Vertical In-Line pumps with the motor up are available for most pump casing/impeller combinations. Mounting the pump in the vertical position with the motor up is an ideal configuration for canned motor pumps because it eliminates most of the radial loads on the bearings. When the pump is in operation, the hydraulic thrust balance lifts the rotating assembly off of the thrust bearing so there is no mechanical contact.
With the reverse circulation option, the motor section is continuously vented. As a result, this configuration is a good choice for applications that require users to pump volatile liquids.
Vertical In-Line pumps also use less space — a major benefit in today’s plants where real estate is at a premium.
